Neuschwanstein Castle seen from a quiet Bavarian path

To discover Bavaria, it helps to understand the stories it tells about itself.

Neuschwanstein is more than one of Bavaria’s most recognised landmarks.

The story surrounding the castle opens a wider perspective on Bavaria — the Wittelsbach dynasty, King Ludwig II, monarchy, architecture, landscape and the historical world from which many of the images associated with Bavaria emerged.

For international executives, employees, partners, families or guests, the Experience offers a personally hosted way to place a famous destination within a broader cultural and historical context.

Two perspectives. Personally selected by you.

Neuschwanstein tells an important part of the story. But to better understand King Ludwig II and the world in which the castle was created, it helps to add a second perspective.

That is why we combine the visit to Neuschwanstein with one of two historical perspectives, selected together with you in advance.

Add one of two historical perspectives

Hohenschwangau Castle in its Alpine landscape

01 · Ludwig’s Childhood & Family

Hohenschwangau Castle

Ludwig II spent much of his childhood and youth at Hohenschwangau. The castle offers a more personal perspective on his family, his early years and the surroundings that shaped him long before Neuschwanstein was created.

The visit takes place as part of the regular official castle tour and is integrated into the day according to available visiting times.

02 · The Bavarian Royal House

Museum of the Bavarian Kings

The Museum of the Bavarian Kings broadens the perspective beyond Ludwig II and tells the story of the Wittelsbach dynasty and the Bavarian royal family.

It provides a wider historical context in which Neuschwanstein and the world of Ludwig II can be better understood.

Neuschwanstein is part of a much larger story.

King Ludwig II remains one of the most fascinating figures in Bavarian history. His castles, his ideas about art and architecture, and not least his death, still surrounded by legend, have shaped his image far beyond Bavaria.

But Neuschwanstein did not emerge in isolation. The story of the castle is closely connected to Ludwig’s family, the House of Wittelsbach, his childhood at Hohenschwangau and the political and social changes that transformed Bavaria during the 19th century.

We bring these connections together in a personally hosted journey through landscape and history — giving Neuschwanstein the context that turns a famous image into a place with a story.

The experience

01

From Munich into the Allgäu

Hotel pickup in Munich and personal transfer into the Allgäu and towards Neuschwanstein. The journey itself is part of the Experience.

Along the way, your host shares personal context around Bavaria, the Wittelsbach dynasty, King Ludwig II and the historical setting of the castles.

A small refreshment and a drink are also included along the way.

02

Neuschwanstein & King Ludwig II

The Experience includes admission to Neuschwanstein Castle and the official castle tour of the interior. Before and after the official tour, your host personally places Ludwig II, his ideas and the creation of Neuschwanstein within the wider history of Bavaria.

03

A second historical perspective

Neuschwanstein tells only part of King Ludwig II’s story. The day therefore continues with one of two perspectives: Hohenschwangau Castle, where Ludwig spent much of his childhood and youth — or the Museum of the Bavarian Kings, which places him within the larger history of the Wittelsbach dynasty and the Bavarian monarchy.

The selected programme is coordinated in advance according to your interests, availability and the booking lead time required.
